VP Clinical Sciences

Position Summary

The VP Clinical Sciences will oversee clinical research, biomarker and translational medicine efforts for the Company and is a key member of the Research and Development Leadership Team. In line with the Company’s growth, the candidate will significantly contribute to the development of the current pipeline and future therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as an active key member of the R&D Leadership Team and is a member of the Company’s Scientific community.
  • Develops and implements the research and development strategy for the different molecules.
  • Designs and manages the execution of research and translational medicine plans for therapeutic candidate molecules as needed.
  • Drives internal therapeutic efforts by managing a variety of relevant CROs as well as an internal team to meet development milestones.
  • Integrates the science and the business strategy. Manages the budget and timeline commitments for development compounds.
  • Leads preparation of regulatory submission documents.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, internal and external, including senior management, cross-functional leaders, academic and industry KOLs, and other external stakeholders to establish trust, increase value, and partner effectively with the community.
  • Actively maintains industry awareness to continue to encourage innovation.
  • Present at conferences and scientific meetings.

Qualifications

  • Academic credentials/Scientific background: MD specialized in Psychiatry or Neurology. A strong scientific background in neurosciences (NS). Exposure and understanding of multiple diseases as well as drug discovery and development processes.
  • Industry experience: At least 5 years of Pharma/Biotech (discovery to IND stage and beyond) experience with a strong record of product development experience in neurosciences.
  • Established presence and network.  Recognized and respected internationally as a leader within the field.
  • Leadership experience: 10+ years of experience in leadership or academic roles. Demonstrated ability to be a strong collaborator enterprise-wide, yet decisive, able to drive the research vision, strategy and execution to deliver results aligned with the company’s objectives.  Able to build and lead talent and teams through inspirational as well as hands-on leadership. Is highly motivated and encourages open communication and energizes both internal and external teams.
  • Stakeholder experience: experience as spokesperson to external stakeholders with a focus on academic thought leaders.
  • Excellent planning and strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities.
  • Excellent conceptual science thinking, which is used to approach and solve complex issues and their implications.
  • Self-motivation and able to work independently in a fast-paced, small company environment.
  • Pro-active and problem-solving attitude.
  • Willing to work hands-on in a very small team with limited internal resources.
  • Personal resilience, perseverance, energy and drive.
